Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program Welcomes 24 Private Sector Partners

Two-year export program provides resources to support international business

RICHMOND, VA — The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) today announced a partnership with 24 private sector providers that will offer services to companies in the two-year Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) program. Launched in January 2002, the program assists exporters in the Commonwealth that have firmly established domestic operations and are committed to international exporting as an expansion strategy. Participating firms are chosen based on their dedication to growing their export sales.

The private sector Program Partners for 2016 represent a team of experienced international service providers that will contribute essential expertise to assist VALET program companies with executing their export initiatives and meeting international goals.

“In order to compete in international markets, businesses need to develop and maintain a high-functioning team,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones. “These partners are part of that important team, and we thank them for seizing the opportunity to help Virginia companies expand their customer base.”

Currently, the VALET program has 50 companies as participants. To participate, each eligible business must meet several quantitative criteria and complete an application process. To date, 247 Virginia companies have been accepted to participate in the VALET program.

“Public-private partnerships are a proven way to multiply state resources,” said Paul Grossman, VEDP Vice President of International Trade. “We are delighted that 24 Virginia service firms are providing their international trade expertise to help Virginia exporters.”
